Ventral and Incisional Hernias

Incisional Hernias

Large Incisional (after previous surgery) hernias are one of the most distressing type of hernias and cause significant interference with every day activities. They tend to get larger with time and can cause complications such as skin damage and strangulation. They can impact massively on everyday activities and quality of life. Most of the time they can be repaired but often involve weight loss, extensive and complex surgery and a long recovery.
These hernias are always best repaired immediately before they get too large. When they are fixed early they can often be repaired with keyhole techniques. Some patients have complicated and very large hernias that require extensive and complicated surgery.
Dr McGregor enjoys fixing these difficult and complex surgery and does this type of surgery regularly.
